According to Steve Petty that pass makes Bill the 2nd quickest 10.5 car in the world down the 1/4 mile.

Congrats to Bill and his crew.  Pretty unreal for a Dart 360 headed BB Chevy.

Nope.  His motor was built by an engine shop in Miami, FL called Progressive Racing Engines.

Steve Petty helps with the tuneup though.

Bill is number 1 with a 6.651 at 221.20.  Track is a little green still and not all there but good enough for 1.14, 2.98, 4.41 @175 on that pass.

There was a green Mustang there with Jaegermeister decals on it that went low 7.40s at just over 200mph on drag radials (twice). If he can get that car to front half it's gonna be game over.

One week prior to Orlando's WSN, Bill bought that motor used so he could make the race.  The only things he changed on it were the cam and pistons to accomodate it being turbocharged now instead of nitrous.
I'd say becoming the 2nd quickest ORSCA style 10.5 car on the planet in the 1/4 mile and probably 3rd or 4th in the 1/8th (4.41) and accomplishing that with a used motor with countless runs on it in less than 5 months is pretty impressive to say the least.  Mind you, that is a 588ci, Dart 360 headed motor with twin 88s. Bill will be back soon with a vengence I can promise you.

Next year this event has got to be an 1/8th mile race. The turnout was terrible for every class except Pro Street. Maybe next year they can run Heavy Street and Pro Street on the 1/4mile and let Outlaw 10.5 and Drag Radial run the 1/8mile. I'm glad they we saw the number that we did though because that was the one thing that brightened up this event. 7.40's and 200mph runs in Drag Radial and more 6.60's and huge mph numbers in Outlaw 10.5. Congrats goes out to all the guys that ran these numbers. Bill doesn't need to switch enging builders either, his setup obviously works and there is plenty of power there so just keep doing what your doing and the heads will keep turning.

I don't think it really has anything to do with it being 1/8th or 1/4 mile. I think the economy and gas prices has more to do with the bad turnouts lately than anything.
