In TCI EZ Street, Yarber drove his 1995 Mustang Cobra past Tracy Shores, 5.184 to a slowing 5.481. Yarber qualified # 2 with a 5.098, just a tick behind #1 qualifier and new ET record holder Dustin Mewbourn’s 5.091. Mewbourn and new speed record holder Shane “Thrillbilly” Stack (146.21) were the semi final losers.

As usual, Modified Street provided some of the most thrilling runs of the day with huge wheelstands and less than straight runs being the norm. In the end it was #2  qualifier Stacy Parker taking home the trophy with a solo run after John Forehand’s Malibu succumbed to breakage. Semifinalist Richard Reagan was # 1 qualifier with a 5.475. Brain Murphy was the other semifinalist.

In ORSCA’s new 5.0 Index Class, Israel Deraney followed up his #1 qualifying  effort with the win over Eddie Smith Jr.. Smith red-lighted away his chances, but would have a had a hard time beating Deraney’s  .012 reaction time and 5.017 ET. Glenn Dutton and Larry Peavy  were the semifinalists.

Nineteen year old Eric Armstrong scored his first Dutton Grading 6.0 Index Class win ever by defeating reigning champion Lebron “The Man” Hill, 6.003 to 6.014. Hill was the #1 qualifier with a perfect 6.000. In the semis Armstrong defeated Michael Wright while Hill disposed of  Glenn Dutton.

Brock Taylor of Huntsville AL made his long trip to Atlanta Dragway a successful one by taking home the trophy in the Atlanta Speed Shop 7.0 Index Class. Taylor defeated a red-lighting David Brand. Chris Hagan fouled to give Brand the win in their semifinal match up while Taylor defeated a too fast Michael Smith, who broke out with a 6.959. Ed Bendall claimed the #1 qualifying  position and the $100 bonus, provided by Wood Electric, with a perfect 7.000.
