Carolina was the next stop and again mother nature cooperated, except for the extreme heat. After three rounds qualifying Bobby Michaud was #1 qualifier with yet again another perfect 7.000. The number five qualifying time was a 7.006 for an astounding 7.0032 average. David Brand avenged his runner-up in Atlanta with the win over Andy Schaefer.
The Montgomery race provided a challenge for every one when Saturday morning the printer in the ET Booth succumbed to damage suffered during an electrical storm. There were no working back-ups available so each driver that wanted to know their interval times had to come to the tower to view them. Steve Woodburn overcame the obstacle and posted the third-straight 7.000 number one qualifying effort. Josh Mackey defeated two-time champion Ricky Pennington to collect his first ORSCA win. The average qualifying time of the top five was 7.010.
In review, there have been no repeat winners this year and only points leader David Brand, has been to more than one final. Also interestingly enough, not one of this year's winners finished in the top ten last year, and in fact Brand, who finished twenty third, is the highest points earner from last year to win. Points runner-up Pennington and Schaefer, who finished fourth, are the only two racers from last years top five to reach a final.
Will the remainder of the year bring more upsets and new winners or will the cream of the crop from years past reclaim their glory ?
