Blackmon and Pennington Double, Szabo Triples
and Jackson Pulls a Rare Grand Slam
Jimmy Blackmon backed up his Saturday win with another victory in Mickey Thompson Outlaw 10.5, this time defeating points leader Joe Newsham in the finals.
Keith Szabo made it three wins in a row in Berry Plumbing Equipment / Sheppard Race Cars Limited Street. The "car killa " Jeff Paulk was runner-up.
TCI EZ Street has become the Steve Jackson show, although he did not do well in the Huntsville Spring Race, he made the trip west this go around worthwhile and followed up his Carolina, Montgomery and SGMP wins for the rare fourth win in a row. Chad Henderson smoked the tires in the finals.
At SGMP Kevin Schrimsher made it to the Modified Street finals but came up a little short. This time he completed the job taking out a troubled Stacy Parker in the finals.
In the Southern Truck Parts 5.0 Index Class, Scott Underwood defeated a red-lighting Clint Abbott for the win.
Michael Strickland took the Dutton Grading 6.0 Index Class win over David Craft. Strickland left first and ran a 6.01 to David's losing 6.02.
Ricky Pennington scored his double by defeating Brandon Hamilton in the I40inc.com 7.0 Index Class. Pennington used a 7.07 to defeat Hamilton's off pace 6.17.

Huntsville Spring Race Completed
The record book again took a hit as three new records were set in two differet classes. Eventual Mickey Thompson Outlaw 10.5 runner-up Tim Lynch reset his own MPH record with a 183.90 blast that was backed up by an earlier 182.11. Stacy Parker picked up 40 valuable points by setting both the ET and MPH records in Modified Street at 5.311 and 134.57 mph.
Jimmy Blackmon returned to his winning ways by defeating an out of shape Lynch in the Outlaw 10.5 final, 4.60 to a 4.88. Tony Johnson and his blown 1969 Camaro and Michael Robinson in the gorgeus new VIP Camaro were the semi-finalist.
Keith Szabo made it two in a row in the Berry Plumbing & Equipment / Sheppard Race Cars Limited Street class. Szabo won his semi-final match-up with Jeff Cooner and Eric Dillard defeated David Waits to set up an all Mustang final. After nearly a dead even start, Szabo charged to a 4.83 to clip Dillards 4.88
In TCI EZ Street, Dustin Bradford over came a slight holeshot by Gary White to take home the title and trophy, 5.08 to 5.32. Tracy Shores and Glen Jones were the semi-finalist.
The aforementioned Stacy Parker won Modified Street with his record setting 5.31 to defeat former record holder and SGMP winner Brian Murphy' 5.41.
Jeremy Noah defeated Scott Underwood in their semi-final clash and then Mike Herring in the Southern Truck Parts 5.0 Index Final. Herring had defeated Paul Baxter in the semis but his 5.04 could not overcome Noah's perfect 5.00 .
In Dutton Grading 6.0 Index, Darryl Blankenship drove his 1972 Corvette to the victory over Glen Dutton on a holeshot, 6.04 to a quicker but losing 6.00. Adam Garner and Lebron "the man" Hill were the semi-finalist.
Former 7.0 champ Ricky Pennington returned to his winning ways with a win against Lucas Bendal. Pennington was second off the line but pushed Bendall to a breakot 6.9999 with a safe 7.03. Current I4.0 7.0 index points leader Brock Taylor fell to Pennington in the semis and Terry Stringer lost to Bendall.
Don't forget racing resumes today Sunday Sept 21 @ 11 AM.

HOLY WOW !
Tim Lynch made his return to the Chris Alston Chassisworks Outlaw Racing Street Car Association Series a wildly successful one. During Friday nights Test & Tune he wheeled the Steve Petty tuned twin-turbo Mustang to a 4.35. On Saturday he qualified #1 with a 4.36. Miami FL's Carlos Zaldivar held the # 2 position with a 4.45. Unfortunatly, Zaldivar got out of shape in his semi-fnal match-up with Brad Brand and slowed to a 5.90 while Brand, competing in his first ORSCA event in over a year also had problems and slowed to a 4.71. On the opposite of the ladder Lynch faced current points leader and two time winner this year,Joe Newsham. After an awesome display of sportsmanship by the Newsham team, Lynch defeated the NJ racer 4.41 to a tire spinning 4.83.
Prior to the run Lynch discovered that the battery in the Mustang had failed, rather than take an easy win and further his points lead Newsham elected to wait for the battery to be replaced. In the finals, the Lynch team won their first Mickey Thompson Outlaw 10.5 title of the year over Brad Brand's Mustang. Brand had made several runs in the 4.4 zone but slowed to a 4.51 in the final and Lynch took the victory with his slowest run of the day, an outstanding 4.45. The Proline powered Mustang also reset the MPH record with a 180.60 blast in the first round.

Mid-Way Through The 2008 Season The ORSCA 7.0 Index Class Has A New Sponsor And New Winners
www.i40inc.com
The season opener in Huntsville was plaqued by rain and eliminations remain incomplete. Only one round of qualifying was completed for all classes. Local racer Scott Johnson qualified # 1 with a 7.0020. Even with only the single round the top five qualifiers still averaged a 7.015. We did manage to get two complete rounds of eliminations on Sunday, so this race will be finished at the Huntsville event this fall
In Atlanta, the weather was awesome and the racing was as well. Wood Electric put up a $ 100 Cash Bonus for the # 1 qualifier and Ed Bendall claimed it with a perfect 7.000. The top 5 qualifiers ranged from Bendall's 7.000 to a 7.003, an unbelievable 7.0018 average. Brock Taylor took the win after David Brand redlighted in the final.

Rainwater Scores First ORSCA Win
Paulk, Jackson, Ellis Post 2nd Of Year
Ken Rainwater had perhaps one of the toughest weekends of his Mickey Thompson Outlaw 10.5 career, but the team's perserverence paid off in a big way. Suffering both a broken differential and a loss of steering in the shut down area , due to a broken bolt, during eliminations. Ken, Dee and the crew never gave up. Ken qualified # 2 with a 4.58, just behind Jimmy Blackmon's 4.57, then defeated Jack Barfield and Gilbert "The Rock" Jacobs on his way to the final round match-up with Bill Jewett. Rainwater defeated Jewett 4.66 to a slowing 4.85. Anthony New was Jewett's semi-final opponent. Points leader Joe Newsham also had his share of problems in Montgomery and fell in the first round to Ed Lavender.

Newsham Repeats And Extends Points Lead
Joe Newsham wasn't as consistent in the Carolina heat as he was in Commerce, but he still managed to pull out the win in Mickey Thompson Outlaw 10.5. Newsham became the first back-to-back winner of ORSCA's fastest class in quite sometime, by using a .001 reaction time to defeat Tim Lynch in all turbo powered Mustang final. Lynch ran quicker with a 4.631 to Newsham's 4.712, but his .104 light proved to be the difference. Lynch, the #1 qualifier with a 4.49, defeated Jimmy Blackmon in the semi-finals and Newsham defeated "The Rock" Gilbert Jacobs.

David Waits took his first ever Sheppard Race Cars / Berry Plumbing & Equipment Limited Street win in his Proline Powered Camaro. David has been improving every race and qualified #1 in route to victory. Waits defeated fellow turbo powered competitor Keith Szabo, 4.987 to 5.081. The race was tighter than the ET's showed as Szabo had a .023 reaction to Waits' .076. Waits used a strong 4.942 to beat Carlton Thompson's 4.994 and Szabo used a holeshot aided 5.031 to defeat defending champ Darrin Hoyle's 5.004. The starting line advantage was .021 to .057.

Carlos Zaldivar of Miami Fl was the #1 qualifier in his beautiful 2004 Corvette with a strong 4.422. Bryan Markiewice and “Outlaw” Jack Barfield were the semi finalists.
