In Sheppard Race Cars Limited Street, all of the attention seemed to be focused on heavy hitters Darren Hoyle, Eric Dillard and defending series champion Jeff Cooner. Meanwhile Carlton Thompson, who had run a 4.87 during Friday night testing just proceeeded to sneak in and mow the field down. After qualifying only 13 with only a 5.26, he took out #4 qualifier Lamar Swindell in the first round with a low et of the round 4.88 to a losing 5.29. In the second round Thompson again had low et and posted a winning 4.97 to Keith Szabo's 5.16. The semis had Thompson and his Florida based turbocharged Mustang taking out North Carolina's Darren Hoyle 4.93 to a 5.04. Meanwhile, Jeff Paulk was making his way to the finals by defeating Tim Kincaid 5.15 to a slowing 9.37 and Mike Donnahue in the second round with a 5.08.Paulk had a easy win in the semis when Tommy Rainer's Camaro broke on the starting line. Paulk sped to a 5.11 but still gave up lane choice to Thompson. In the finals Paulk
left slightly ahead with a .0523 to a .0572 reaction time advantage but Thompson reeled him for the win with a 4.92 to Paulks 5.08 in his gorgeous Chevy S-10. Darren Hoyle was the quickest of the 20 qualifiers with a 4.823 @ 155.76 mph.

TCI EZ Street has been primarily the  David Reese/Shane Stack show for most of the year, but in Huntsville Tommy Brewer and Shane Crowden decided to crash the party in a big way.Brewer was the only car to qualify in the 4 second zone with a 4.947 at a 152 mph. Eventual winner Crowden qualified his Mustang number 4 with a 5.14. The 4 ended up in the semis with Stack driving around Reese's holeshot 5.00 to a 5.03. Crowden and Brewer both encountered problems in their match-up with Crowden recovering first to defeat Brewer 6.15 to a losing 6.32.
In the final, Stack uncharacteristicly redlighted handing the win to Crowden. David Reese had low et of eliminations in his new Mustang with a 4.96.

Thirteen cars made the call in Race Coach Sales Modified Street with Ryan Rakestraw doubling up by winning both the Carolina carry over race and the Huntsville event. The rookie driver showed poise and consistency throughout the 4 rounds of eliminations, averaging .038 reaction time and running between 5.56 and 5.60 every round. Runner Up Brian Murphy qualified # 1 with a fine 5.51 at 127 mph.Spurgeon Adkins and Richard Reagan were the semifinalist.

Bick Bickerstaff set the pace during the first round of qualifying with a 5.30 to secure the #1 spot in the Southern Truck Parts 5.30 class and held it through out the day. Event winner Israel Deraney qualified # 7 and met Bickerstaff in the final. Deraney left first with a .004 reaction and drove the finish line with 5.305 to leave little room for Bickerstaff who had a good .0365 reaction and a 5.307 in a losing effort. The 5.30 class again provided some of the closest races of the day and proved the points chase is still wide open with current points leader Jeremy Ellis going out in the first round and last years champion Kenny Acree losing in the semi's. Bickerstaff, who is not in the points chase was also runner up in the Carolina carry over race.

Scott Olin qualified #1
